How can I overcome my fear of getting hit by a baseball when im at bat?

Whenever I go to bat it seems like im afraid because my legs are always shaking and im always afraid of getting hit what can i do to have this stop

    I know it's easier said than done but you just have to take the fact that people rarely get hit by pitches and even when they do, they don't hurt that bad. And even if it hurts, it usually stops by the time you get to first. All it takes is for you yo get up there and think about how you're gonna hit the ball, not how the ball's gonna hit you, and then you'll forget you were ever afraid of being hit.

    Ask yourself first how likely it is that the same sort of accident will happen again. But if that still doesn't convince you, and I'm not suggesting that it should, then why not wear the same kind of protective eye goggles that you see on girls who play lacrosse who are subject to injury from the lacrosse ball and sticks. I'm biased in this regard because I wrote a legal memo on the subject of liability for eye injuries for the Headmaster (John Chandler) of a small, private secondary school in Eastern Massachusetts (The Pingree School), and that school's girls' lacrosse team was the first to wear protective eye wear at the high school level. I believe protective eye goggles is now the standard at the high school and college levels with respect to girls lacrosse. You need to do whatever makes you confident at the plate. If wearing protective eye goggles will help boost your confidence with respect to the risk of suffering another severe eye injury, then why not try goggles to see if they help you? Personally, if I was a coach in a league that used aluminum bats, I would never let my pitchers pitch without protective eye goggles and I would give serious thought to making the infielders wear them as well. The natural progression of that line of thinking would be to protect hitters too from injuries suffered at the plate. Good luck.

    If you stand real close to the plate when you bat, take a few steps back. Also, remember reaction time is key. If you see the ball coming towards you, move out of the way or duck as quick as you can.

    I used to have that problem when I was in Little League. And though I never got over it, it seemed to me later on that it could have been overcome by having someone pitch to me over and over, starting slow (at a speed which did not provoke anxiety) and gradually speeding up the pitches as I got used to them. It's gradual desensitization.

    My nephew had this problem and it was just a matter of getting comfortable for him. Once he got enough practice (even getting hit a couple times), the fear went away. Stay strong!

    When i was little my dad always told me youve been up to bad over 100 times what do you think the changes of getting hit this time are.

    focus on what you are looking for and what you want to do

    getting a hit, sac fly, or laying down a bunt

    whatever is needed at that point

    It's hard to be a good player with that fear.....!!
