Not sure what this math question is asking?

I am not sure what this question is asking me to do. If someone could explain this it me it would be greatly appreciated.

Solve for the following unknown numbers “x”: 14:x = 70:84

    Simply solve for x. The equation is most normally written as (14/x) = (70/84)

    Hint: Cross multiple and then single x (it should be bigger than 14).

  • Well as you can see, what your teacher gave you is a ratio. Which means 14:x is also equal to 14/x. So since you have 14:x=70:84 would now lead to, 14/x=70/84. (Just in case this is what you really want to know.)
