If your an active duty soldier, will you work and train at the nearest national guard post?

My boyfriend is going to AIT this summer. He lives in Dardanelle, Arkansas but as far as I know the only two military bases we have in the state are Fort Chaffee and Pine Bluff. Does that mean he will train and work at one of the two, or will he have to move out of state? He is active duty. Thanks!

Update:

Okay thanks guys! (No need to be assholes)

I completely misunderstood this the 1st time I read it and thought you were talking about National Guardsmen. If you're active duty you get assigned to whatever active duty base you get assigned to. You will have absolutely nothing to do with the National Guard. They don't give a crap where you're from and that has nothing whatsoever to do with where he gets assigned. Where he goes for AIT will depend on what his job is. Each MOS trains at only one base. Infantry at Benning, MP at Leonard Wood, etc. Beyond that he could go anywhere in the world. He could end up in Korea, or Ft. Benning, GA, or Ft. Drum, NY. He certainly will never set foot on any National Guard installations........ Unless he goes into the Guard when his enlistment is up.

If he is active duty, he will be leaving your state for training somewhere in the US based on what his job will be. He will then be stationed either at a major US military base domestically or overseas. Forget the national guard post if he is not going into the national guard.

Since he is active duty, he will leave the state to go to basic, then AIT, then his duty station. He will NEVER come back, unless he chooses to take leave to do so.

Is he reserves NG, or active NG? If he is actove, he will be assigned to a post where his MOS is needed stateside or overseas. If he is a reservist, then he will be assigned a unit in his Home Of Record.

If he's active duty, he will be told where to go and when. You won't be seeing him unless he takes leave (vacation) and comes back to see you. Didn't he tell you that?

So they say "hey you need to go here", and we just pack up and move? When would this normally happen? He hasn't even left for AIT yet
