It is probably a small oil leak, and the oil burns when it hits the hot exhaust manifold. Open the hood, have a look.

Sounds like oil is leaking from engine. Take your car for a service as soon as possible.

I tried, but I can't seem to see under your hood from Idaho.

You're probably running without oil or water; or both.

Dunno. Open the hood and have a look. No clue what you are looking at? Stop by a garage.
