I would say at times it has been, there's definitely an agenda for certain referees, not naming anyone *cough* Joey Crawford *cough*.

The most notable that always comes to mind first when this question is asked is the 2002 Western Conference Finals. Probably because of how blatantly one sided it was. Even announcers and commentators that were usually pulling for the Lakers knew game 6 and most of that series was totally geared towards L.A.

I've read Tim Donaghy's book before, and I think there's a lot of embellishment in there, but I think there's some truth as well.

I think actually with the new commissioner the NBA has become a little more transparent, and a little more honest, with the referee reports and the league now admits when they're wrong which still means they screw up. But it's a start in the right direction. A lot of the referees from the early 2000's and late 90's that were accused of "fixing" games or calling them one sided are gone, except for Joey and Danny Crawford.

i think all sports are to a extent but it really matters what team you are rooting for rite? I dont think ive really said well the refs rigged the game thats why they lost. I think 95 percent of the time in the nba playoffs the best team ends up winning. They may try and make the games closer to keep revnue up. But then sometimes you could say other wise teams get swept. So it really depends i dont see it being that big of a issue with the game. Where a team is getting screwed so bad no matter what they are going to let the other team win. All sports are rigged i think to a certain extent. Football could be easily manipulated baseball is tougher than basketball and football because there are so many penalties and fouls up to the refs decision. But this has been going on since sports has been invented...it was going on since money has been on earth, everyone is trying to find new ways to make a extra buck in the entertainment buisness.

2002 Western Conference Finals were most likely rigged.

Apart from that I doubt any important games were decided by the refs on purpose...there is a difference between poorly officiated games and referees making bad calls on purpose...For example both Conference FInals in 2012 were extremely poorly officiated..San Antonio and Boston should have been in the finals if the refs had made the right calls so many people believe that was rigged cause everyone wanted Lebron (and Wade, Bosh) vs Durant (and Westbrick) in the finals and more people would have watched that than the old Spurs vs the even older Celtics.

But in my opinion these games were not rigged, just the referees having bad days or getting influenced too much by the flopping of Lebron, Wade and Durant aswell as Harden.

Sometimes, like this year. The San Antonio Spurs would be going back to back had they not given CP3 FTs in game 7 with less than 8 seconds in the game.

    Notable rigged years

    2002 Western Conference Finals

    2006 NBA Finals

    2008 Playoffs

    2012 Western Conference Finals

The follow up Finals between Celtics and Lakers was back when Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen...when they couldn't win one more game to win it all before Lakers could win 2 games to win the whole dam# thing....Celtics lose and on top of that...they had the lead twice in those last 2 games when all they needed was to win one more Final game. That was fixed, rigged, etc.

Of course it is! The NBA has now suspended D.Howard for flagment foul who's not suppose to play Game 5. Now that the Rockets are out the Playoffs, they finally punished him for only 1 game. Not only that, Thompson was knee in the head to a fellow Rocket who also didn't get a flagment foul & they where playing too aggressive.

Um... yes a referee (tim donaghy) served time in prison for rigging a game he gambled on and he even admitted that the league rigs games.

Whenever Joey Crawfward refs that game will be rigged some how

I don't think they're rigged as much as they are manipulated in order to give certain teams an edge to push for better ratings.

they are very inconsistent one game they call every foul and some games none. they need to find a better system for fouls maybe more refs or allowing to review a foul call. it drives me insane to see this uncertainty from game to game. or a situation like LeBron getting every call and melo getting none. I don't have a solution but adam silver has done a great job so far and he must come up with one
