1998 Subaru gas overflows when trying to fill a\t the gas station.?

I have a 1998 Subaru Impreza Outback gas overflowing if pumped too fast. Have to pump really slow. Someone said it's vapor locked? What do you think could cause this? I checked to see if some smart *** put a dime in the filler hole but it was clear. I don't know what to check next. It will fill by container no problem but not at the gas pumps. (too fast of a flow)

Yeah it might be vapour locked, poke a screwdriver down it to open up the anticyphening gateway and see if it rushes out. Another thing is you might of had a full tank and a bad sending unit which tells you the fuel amount on the dash
