I drove a car with low-profile tires and got annoying whine at high speeds?

Update:

First time I've driven a car (Mazda 5) with low-profile tires. It seemed the tires started whining at about 60 mph. Is this typical of low-profile tires, or should I look for some other problem?

Thanks,

Houyhnhnm

More than likely it was the quality and/or condition of the tires. Low-profile tires do not inherently have a high noise level. Noise level has much more to do with the quality of any particular tire model and it's integrity.

It's not because they are low profile. Certain tires whine, but it's pretty common in low quality tires.

    Might be those particular tires.
