Grocery store charged me twice?

I went to buy $30 in groceries around three weeks ago and I attempted to pay with a Visa gift card, the cashier said the card was declined so i paid in cash. I thought it'd be normal for the card to not be accepted there. But i attempted in other stores a few weeks later and still declined, i called the card and apparently a transaction was a made where i bought the groceries with cash. Is there a way i can recover those $30 since I was charged twice ?

Update:

I kept no receipts since i paid in cash

If you have the receipt of you paying for the groceries in cash, then I think there is a good chance that you can recover that $30 back. Either way you should call the number at the back of the gift card and explain your situation to customer service. Hope you get your $30 back!

I hope you have your receipt that said you paid cash. The receipt should show you paid cash (cash tendered on the receipt). Take to the store the receipt plus the proof of the charge against your card. If the store doesn't refund the money to you or the card, challenge the amount with your card issuer.
