What needs to happen is that the whole system needs to be scrapped and started over. He has spoken of a lack of training for jobs. While I agree with this and he has tried, he has been blocked at every turn by Republican filibusters, even on job training for veterans. He has also recommended free college for the first two years. This should be done, because a 12 year education does not prepare you for much of anything job-wise. The first two years of college should be added to that 12 years instead of separated into a pay for play system. This of course has also been blocked by Republicans.

He has spoken of low pay and the effect that has on demand. He was able to raise the minimum wage for federal contractors, but Congressional Republicans have also blocked that, even though some of the states are starting to raise it on their own.
