Do I need to add live rock? I have coral that is hard and not alive, is there any benefit to this and do I need to add live rock?

    No you don't neeed live rock! What u have now is fine, but if you wanted to add live rock then of course go right ahead!!

    Live rock requires specific conditions, you just don't add it to a tank without the right equipment and lighting.

    Small salt tanks are hard to keep healthy, one method that works requires live rock, extra water pumps and specialized lighting.

    Dead coral is a common decoration, but that's all it is, decoration.

    I fear you have not learned correct info about saltwater tanks. You are probably headed for problems unless you do some more research.
