Should I pay return shipping on an item from Ebay?

Seller listed the wrong specs on a computer I purchased.

I am going through hoops to return the computer.

The seller wants me to pay for return shipping since the item had free initial shipping.

Would you pay the shipping to end this issue or make him pay for it since it was his error.

You should open an Ebay case for Item Not As Described and ask Ebay who should pay. Ebay usually sides with the buyer but if something is wrong the seller will pay. Once the seller sees you have opened a case he may agree to the refund plus shipping cost. Thats the reason he put Free Shipping on the listing, to discourage anyone from returning it.

Since they don't want to pay it in full, I would first ask them to split the cost with me. If they did not agree with that, then I would go ahead and pay it so I could get my refund which is my main goal.

You can get all legal-y about who should pay what, but it sounds like they are chafing at making good on their mistake anyway, so just try to get as much of your money back as possible. Sure you will end up out of pocket a bit in the end, but you've probably wasted that much in a night at the arcade before.

    Just my $0.02.
