why do people hate pitbulls?

okay so I've been on a few questions about pitbulls and noticed a few people where ranting on how pitbulls are mean and aggressive when I know that they are not but only if treated wrong what annoy's me the most is how people consider them a bad breed just because of the number of people they have killed

This question is asked at least once a week for years! And always sparks lots of debate. Then, of course, you are only looking for validation of your opinion rather than factual information.

Personally, I don't HATE Pit Bulls, and I'll leave it at that. You can put your question in to the search bar above and check out the 10,000+ times this question has been addressed.

Just ignore most people on this site. They just have to hate on something....

Pitbulls are used a lot by criminals and as status symbols.

Therefore they aren't raised properly and encouraged and trained (key words) to attack or neglected (stuck out in the yard). They also have a higher population than most other big breeds. And then people bring up statistics like it means something.

They can't think outside the box and look at the bigger picture - not all pitbulls are aggressive, same way not all humans are murdering selfish psychos or Islamic extremists for example., there are many pitbulls with great temperaments around both humans, and other animals. Of course I'm not denying the fact that there are pitbulls that were breed for fighting and have temperaments making them more likely to have dog aggression (not human aggression). But even they can be trained to love and get along with other animals rather than to hate, mindsets can change. Take Hector the pitbull, one of Mike Vicks prized fighting dogs, when Hector was rescued he ended up becoming a therapy dog. Unfortunately Hector sadly died due to cancer but the point I'm making is that affection > pain and suffering. Hector is an example of many.

Most people on here only see one side of the coin, they will continue to remain ignorant as they stay with they same mindset and refuse to use their brain. They're what I call simpletons.

I think most educated people understand that pit bulls are dangerous because they have been selectively bred for hundreds of years to kill in a pit.

Most educated people do not hate pit bulls. They do not hate tigers, but they realize that they should not be pets.

Most people who want bsl understand that a large % of people who are attracted too pit bulls are scum bags. They want these dogs because they realize how dangerous they are. And they lie too the public so they can continue too own them.

The bottom line is people do not hate pit bulls.

They hate that pit bulls are disfiguring and killing children.

They hate that losers use them for protection and intimidation.

They hate that pit bulls kill over 40,000 pets and animals each year.

How could anyone who knows the truth about pit bulls killing children, people, and pets, be OK with keeping them as pets?

Why do people like pit bulls when they keep killing children?

    Thats the real question.

You seem to have forgotten that aggression IS inherited. Genetics dictate what kind of temperament the dog is going to more predisposed to. Pits are mostly dog aggression & that is hard wired into the genetics of the breed. You take a bad dog & treat it badly, of course you are going to have a bad dog. Sometimes training can help & sometimes euthanasia is the only answer.

You have to look at the situation from every point you can see it from. & not just take a little bit of what someone told you & believe it whole hardheartedly. Aggression comes in all dogs but it is the genetics how severe it is going to be.

Good pits, family pets for 7 yrs can just snap & kill. & you may not see any aggression until the dog fully matures at the age of 3.

Pits are the number one breed for human fatalities. The Rott second.

You may be just gullible or just not fully educated as to what you are trying to argue.
