Sleep Paralysis?
This has happened to me a couple times... So I am having a bad dream. And even though I'm dreaming, I want the bad dream to end and it's like I'm awake. I try to open my eyes, but they don't open... the bad dream keeps happening. I shake the bed with my body a few times and then I can open my eyes. Is this sleep paralysis??

Yeah, it's freaky, I know. I had it as a teen on occasions and just grew out of it. BTW, you described it EXACTLY as I experienced it. I would even try to yell or scream and it only came out as a loud moan. Yes, this is sleep paralysis.
