That's easy. The whole platoon would pay for it until the guilty party was given up. Then the guilty party would be charged with assault on an NCO.

Given the fact that your drill sergeant controls you for that 2+ months, he could pretty much punish the whole platoon in any way he wishes. Your drill sergeant can make your life hell.

Also this person better not get caught, because this sounds suspiciously like assault on an NCO. Plan on court martial, time in the brig & dishonorable discharge.

Most of us were in awe of our drill sergeant. I would never have dreamed of doing this. Basic can be a tolerable and even a rather enjoyable experience. Or it can be hell. Best not to piss off the olde drill sergeant.

The entire platoon would be punished (PT, extra duty, etc.) until they either coughed up the guilty idiot or they started bleeding from the ears...and it would not stop then. PT people for a few hours and they can get very honest.

Simple assault is 3 months in the stockade, 2/3 reduction of pay for 3 months. Going beyond simple assault ranges from a Bad Conduct Discharge after 6 months in the Stockade to a DD with at least 1 year in the Stockade. Have been in a Stockade to deliver issue items to a prisoner from my unit...not pretty. In legal terms a BCD is a federal misdemeanor conviction, a DD a federal felony conviction. In Basic/Boot they just love having a cherry to make a big example of. Means 199 guys saying "phuq me running!"

You are confusing BCT with prison. The drill sergeants are not COs and the trainees are not prisoners. Most of them aren't going to want to screw up their time in training covering up an assault. You would be dimed out pretty quickly if he didn't already know who did it and you would be punished under the UCMJ for assault on a non-commissioned officer.

Anybody that would be stupid enough to do that would probably be too stupid to pass the ASVAB anyway.

After getting smoked and the entire team is punished, you will be a lone wolf. In a short amount of time you will lose the trust of your peers and be the outcast with not only the CADRE to look out for, but your peers who will make your stay miserable.
