If it is a nexus device then it has a complicated setup we have to do in order to start connecting to the PC.

For now I would ask you to try this method.

    1. Go to your mobile settings.

    2. Go to About Phone or About Device.

    3. Tap Build Number multiple times till your device says you're now in developer mode.

    4. Get out of about device and go to developer options.

    5. Find something called Android Debugging or USB Debugging, and enable it.

    6. Now try connecting your mobile to the PC via USB cable, give it some time. Try reconnecting if PC doesn't find your device.

If it still doesn't work then I am sorry. There is some other way which I don't remember properly.
