What are some American or English nicknames for countries? Unoffensive! Like the "Down Under" for Australia.?

    Not sure if this is a nickname but I know America gets called "the States" a fair bit. Not sure about England. I know my dad calls it "Pommy land" sometimes but I don't think that's an actual nickname other people use.

    America gets called ' Uncle Sam ' and England ' Blighty ' .

    We have offensive names for our states too. Like Florida is "America's Penis"
