Scott is a good name. It's not dated. The leading character on MTV's Teen Wolf, his name is Scott McCall. Not that you should name your child after a character on a werewolf show, but I'm just saying that MTV writers apparently didn't think the name too dated to name a character of a popular show that name. That's all. I think Scott is a strong name. I do agree, however, that Scott, like Scarlett, should end in two Ts, otherwise it looks like the adjective and not the given name.

It's very trendy these days to give kids last names for first names, which makes Scott a good choice. In the 70s, a pediatrician told me that if he went into his waiting room and called "Scot" or "Mark", he'd clear out half the room. There aren't that many boys' names. But it's dangerous to give boys unusual names, too- they are more likely to be bullied.

Thanks for the answers. Had no idea the name was used often, if at all. My Brother is named Scot and he added the extra t later on. He was born in 1961.
