In an academic context, would you consider this "cheating?"?

In science class, we were doing an experiment, in groups. I remember that someone from outside my group asked the teacher about something, but either I don't remember the answer, or no answer was given. Then, I realized that the question that was asked also applied to me, so I asked the question, and got an answer.

Update:

I overheard the question, but not the answer, and then realized the question applied to me, so I asked it, and got the answer.

I'm pretty sure it's not. I wasn't there. Was this a test or something? If it's just asking questions I'm pretty sure that's not cheating.
