Yamaha outboard will not spark. What do I check first?

    buy a cheap spark plug tester for like ten dollars

    First, disconnect the stop circuit and check for spark, Most Yamaha models, it's the white wire to the power pack.

    The spark plug. Then work your way back - lead, coil, etc.
