What was the 'original' sin?

Was it Eve's eating the fruit or Adam's passively standing there while the snake conned her? He HAD been there: "She also gave to her husband WITH HER, and he ate" (Gen 3:6, emphasis added). Adam was not deceived by the snake, so is he even more culpable than Eve? Any lawyer would say he is. God knew everything that was happening and HE never spoke up, either. He WANTED her to sin.

The original sin would be the snake lying of course. Or maybe someone making the snake lie (by possessing him perhaps?) Or even, someone creating a lying snake, or creating a dude who makes snakes lie, or corrupting a perfectly good snake into a liar, or corrupting a perfectly good dude into one who makes snakes lie.

All of those are clearly sins, and all of those come before Eve even touched that fruit, eh...

Something made up by the church...

Any 'believers' out there care to follow the 'source' I provided???

    IMHO

  • Given the fact that Adam and Eve never existed neither can the original sin.

    Stated here

Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

Eve was deceived and scripture points that out.

1Ti 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

But Adam bears responsibility for allowing his wife to continue in her deception. And then he betrayed God himself by breaking his only commandment.

No God gave us all free will. Satan used his to rebell then tempt Eve who tempted Adam into SIN.

Satan was the first sinner, but unlike you he can't Repent and accept Christ and become Holy.

    COME LORD JESUS!!!

a modern doctrine not in the bible. any verse used to "prove" it is simply a twisted misinterpretation. while i was growing up..we never had any of this original sin s/h/i/t....thats a new thing!

Apparently it is being stupid enough to believe that the universe and all that is in it..... are judged by a wise and fair arbiter.

The first test for that level of stupidity.... is whether you can be convinced a talking snake can exist.

Original sin is not a textual concept. It was made up centuries later.
