  • Do you believe a 25% tax promotes the black market?

Colorado recently passed a 25% tax rate on marijuana sales. Do you believe that this rate simply pays for the convenience of easy access and offsets societal costs (is therefore reasonable); or does a 25% tax rate simply create a WIDE space for the black market to operate in?

P.S. Colorado taxes liquor at 2.9%.

  • Newton hit on the head by an apple. Kennedy, shot in the head with a rifle. Bullets and apples equivalent?

I've seen at least 10 versions of the "anything can kill you so why should we treat weapons DESIGNED to kill PEOPLE differently from other inanimate objects" so-called argument.

I challenge ANY CONSERVATIVE to re-state the "all potentially dangerous things are the same" argument in any way that makes some semblance of sense.

    Good luck.

  • Do republicans REALLY think the President cannot sidestep them on the debt ceiling?

The President DOES NOT need a spending bill to increase the debt ceiling.

The President CANNOT issue more paper currency.

The President VERY MUCH CAN authorize any amount of coinage... in any denomination.

So.... do Conservatives think they hold any cards here? And if so.... why are the "constitutionalists" unaware of this completely legal strategy??

  • Do you think any of the Tea Party members have ACTUALLY read the Bible?

Jesus is pretty darn clear on this:

Matthew 5 (The Sermon on the Mount)

33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths,

34 but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne

35 nor by the earth; for it is his footstool neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great

36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Now... whether you are religious or not... the meaning is clear. Pledges and Oaths ARE EVIL in the mind Jesus Christ.

So.... why has effectively EVERY Republican signed the Grover Norquist pledge?

Why did Bachman (who CLAIMS to be a Christian every chance she gets) sign that "Marriage Pledge."

Jesus said flat out.... these things are "evil." So... why the hypocrisy from the "Christian Conservatives?"

  • How unusual is it that my dog never barks?

Never barks at anyone... friend or stranger.... dog or human. I know he CAN bark.... but as an adult dog I can only think of him barking maybe 3-4 times.

He is almost a year and a half old... and he's a very friendly, very docile, neutered golden retriever. He will play/wrestle with other dogs just fine... but never barks.

He can be in a yard with 3-4 other dogs (friend's dogs) who might bark at a passing dog... but he never does. My neighbor's dogs bark so much they sometimes get into howling matches.... and he just looks at the fence like there is something strange going on over there.

I am not really that worried about it, he's a great dog, no health issues other than he's kind of skinny for his age (but not underweight). I am just curious if this is common.... or if my dog is kind of an oddball.

    Thanks.

  • How much of Palin's family business are taxpayers going to end up paying for?

Turns out she's been asking Alaska to foot the bill for flying her children around.... even to see their daddy race snow machines....

She charged the state a per diem for staying at her own house... but she did put the state's jet on ebay...

If she thinks her family is necessary to conduct the people's business...and takes them with her at our expense to conduct business.... shouldn't they all be running for office or staying home?? Last I checked babysitters were cheaper than airfare...especially when you have family in town like Palin does.

  • Has any Republican president since heeded the warning of Eisenhower??

To "beware the military industrial complex"???

Nixon? Ford? Reagan? G.H.W. Bush? G.W. Bush??

Have Republican's failed to take to heart the advice of their most decorated, most honored, military-educated President??? And if so why do you think that is.... and how can we change this?

  • Anyone surprised to see another corrupt Republican indicted??

Good old Ted "drill, drill, drill." Stevens might have been in the pocket of Big Oil. Surprised??..or are you just adding another name to a long list of corrupt Republicans willing to do anything (and step on the citizens they represent) to make sure their favorite big business makes larger and larger profits.... of which they are happy to take a cut??

From the form of the question.... you should know how I stand but I'm always open to being made aware of the error of my thoughts. Any evidence that I am wrong (yes evidence) would be appreciated.

  • How long until Joe Hagin's tell all book comes out??

Yet another rat is jumping from the sinking ship before it finally goes down next year. It seems common for Bush aides to spill their guts AFTER they leave the White House... so how long do you think for Hagin (or does he actually have a sense of loyalty)?

  • Patriotic Act ... do you think it is unpatriotic??

I personally feel American's have far more to fear from their own government destoying their way of life than from any foreign power destroying our way of life. Is it simply fear that drives the support of this law... I think so. Fear hammered home for years by the fuhrer.. I mean president. If the 2nd, 4th and 5th Amendments to the constitution can be infringed all under one President....all in one act...signed off on by a Congress in his pocket.... and the newly conservative Supreme Court fails to strike down cowardly laws like the (un)Patriot(ic) Act....at this rate by the time we get to the 50th President of the United States there won't be any Amendments left that hold any water. What say you?

  • Bare root shrubs not showing signs of life, how long do I wait?

I purchased some bare root shrubs for foundation plantings this spring. They've been in the ground three weeks and aren't showing signs of life (no leaves, no buds, just stems).

The plants are mock orange, they had good roots when planted. The soil was amended prior to planting and they went into the ground the day they arrived, and they have been watered regularly (after the top 2-3 inches of soil has dried out).

I feel I did everything I was supposed to...but the plants have failed to thrive.

Do you think they are dead....or am I just impatient??
