2000 Dodge Stratus check engine light came on.?
I recently acquired a 2000 Dodge Stratus. Today while driving the check engine light came on and the car is running rough. I have checked to make sure the gas cap is tight. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

the only way to know is: take the vehicle to an auto parts store that will attach an OBD code reader to the vehicle ; most do so for free ; when the reader shows the codes, write them down ; then look at www.obd-codes.com - that site will give info as to why the code is showing and the needed repairs ; after repairs are made, go back to the auto parts store and have them reattach the OBD and clear the codes from the vehicle ECU................that is the ONLY way to clear the codes correctly

First step is going to read the codes. Next is to research the set condition for the code and the possible causes. Next step is to follow a flow chart to diagnose which part is the cause.
