Why are some successful people still unhappy?

Success is most often measured in regards to materialism rather than in terms of philosophical or spiritual growth and understanding. As should be obvious, material wealth or dubious success does not and can not lead to happiness.

Material things do not last, can be stolen, etc., and the production of the same can do severe harm to the environment so as to harm all living beings, including one's own self.

Compassion, kindness, lived in mindful awareness last.

To obtain material wealth, many have had to be ruthless, cruel and even malicious harming many others along the way. Their unhappiness might be that they are now receiving that which they gave.

Oh, they are happy, James. They just PRETEND to be unhappy so more people won't try to join the Successful People Club.

Success is often referred to a person's wealth, but there are certain things we need that cannot be fulfill by wealth. For example, a person may not have any real friends and they feel alone, or a person may have lost a loved one to death.

maybe they didn't get all the success they expected or it was all at too high a cost, or they are miserable people. OK!
