Why won't Republicans help students? The Cretans in power don't even want to give the students a decent interest rate.?

Don't you understand capitalism it's about the elite and retaining the elite if only the elite can afford only the elite will get education is the prime source of success saddling the poor with debt is a good handicap

  • Cretans are from Crete

"cretins" is the word you're looking for.

Getting a degree in Philosophy (not saying that you're getting a degree in philosophy, but most college degrees are not translatable into profitable careers and Philosophy is a prime example of that) is not a right, and neither are student loans. If you can't afford a higher education and if the degree you do get will not earn you enough money to repay your loan debts, then what need do you have to go to school? You have the entire internet available to you, and barring access to that, I'm certain that there are libraries you can visit where you can get just as fine of an education for a much cheaper price.

So really, your question should be, "Why should the government get more involved in my personal affairs?" which is what will happen if you start allowing the government to dictate the terms for college loans.

It's not a bunch of stingy old Republicans who just don't want to help young people. It's adults who are asking why their tax dollars should be used to subsidize someone else's poor life choices. Republicans are simply the only party that's allowed to say that sort of thing (because the Democrats don't want to alienate their bread and butter: The young voter)

The more educated and diverse a society is, the more equipped we are to compete, with the world. The US quality of education has dropped to 13th in the world.

What we have is a generation of greedy, step on you, get rich quick zombies.

You have to be pretty blind to not see how the elite are herding us like cattle towards our deaths. What is enough? Why do the banks continue to find ways to screw us? Why don't the wealthiest want the poor to have enough to live a dignified life? In the 70's a guy told me the only way to ensure our standard of living is to bring the standard of living throughout the world. He was right but we want cheap jeans. We allow too much power to the banks and organizations like ALEC. Citizens United was a train wreck coming and derivatives are risking our savings thanks to repealing the Glass- Steagall act. The wealthy are responsible for this mess and you want to protect them?
