What to do with a permit over the age of 18?

Update:

I am over 18 and just got my permit and was wondering what I do. Do I still have to do the 6 hours with a professional or just complete the hours with an adult?

Update 2:

California

In CA. my daughter was 20 when she got her license. I taught her myself though we spent way more than 6 hours practicing. She did her permit test then 4 weeks later she aced the test first try.

Then in the next month she went and put 5000 miles on my Miata.

Age 28 now, almost 100,000 miles under her belt and no accidents (other than hitting a deer) or tickets.

    Two steps.

    1) Figure out where you live. This stuff isn't governed by international law, so this step is really important.

    2) Look up the licensing laws there. Make sure you remember that you're over 18.

    Problem solved.

Once you are 18 you do not need driver's ed or driver's training in order to get your license. You can take the road test immediately if you are confident in your driving ability.

You follow the rules required by law in your unnamed location. For example, if you are in Texas and under 25, you will need classes.
