No it's not illegal. It's an autotext and something that a lot of landlords and utilities send out. Why would it be illegal? It's just a reminder, no different than getting an email that your credit card payment or phone bill is due

"My landlord texts me every 1st that rent is due is this illegal?"

It's not illegal, and I find it unreasonable to be so bothered by it. It doesn't infer that you're slow to pay; it's merely a reminder. But if you simply can't stand it and feel compelled to spend time turning this mole hill into a mountain, text a reply saying so.

My advice: Don't sweat the small stuff.

I would find it annoying too, landlords dont call people when rent is due so why should they text either its very rude and intrusive if you ask me. All these people on here answering with smart alecky answers must get on YA just so they can be smart alecky IMHO. Take for example if you were to ask this question: "Im a landlord and my tenants are getting angry when I text them regarding their rent and I dont know why?", you would have gotten a whole different set of answers trust me Ive done it before try it.

No it's not illegal, a little odd though. It's no different than receiving a bill or an invoice, I just find it strange this has persisted if you pay on a regular basis and have never defaulted.

I would either text back or in person preferably, express your concern, explaining you find it unsettling and find some common ground on the issue.

There is nothingt illegal about that; in fact, it's meant to be helpful, really. Just as utility companies and credit card companies often do the same. Heck, I wish my landlord would do that since I do tend to lose track of time. IF, however, you're not happy with that, ask your landlord to kindly remove your name from the autotext list. What should annoy you is that your bank, credit card companies, utility companies AND telephone companies make money from you by SELLING your name and email address WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION to companies that specialize in sending out junk mail. Well, good luck with whatever you decide.

Its not illegal as such, but if you find it annoying it can be on the "grey area" of harassment.

When you rent somewhere you are entitled to the peace to enjoy the property, with some limitations such as emergency or safety works etc which have to be carried out.

So you could simply ask the landlord nicely that you always pay on time, can he stop with the texts.

It's probably an autotext. Just ask her to stop. Texting someone is not illegal, especially those you have a business relationship with. But common courtesy suggests you listen to complaints like this.

No as your landlord is only asking for his legal dues from you and nothing more even if it does not looks nice about reminded about your liability at the very first day of the month but there is nothing illegal about it.

Auto text. Why would this be in any way illegal? It's simply a reminder that you should not be so angered about. Take a chill pill.

Not really, but if you don't want the text, just ask your landlord to take you off the list. Read your lease to see if that is the rule before you ask here to take you off the list to be texted.
