How to root my android device - gingerbread Samsung Galaxy S2 (phone details included)?

Model is GT-i1900

Android ver 2.3.5

kernel BOKK1

and it's with T mobile (so not AT&T/verizon etc)

please explain how to do it as I don't want to brick my phone!

And if you know of any good custom ROMs can u recommend them to me?

    BEWARE much of the rooting software out there is very amateurish and a source of viruses. the main reasons for rooting are to unlock, tidy up or update to a newer OS - on an older phone such as yours the results would have limited value - so much better to buy a newer phone but even then the newer Oss are nothing spectacular.
