Can I use snow tires during summer?
I got an oil change today that usually includes rotating tires. The mechanic told me he isn't going to rotate mine. I asked him is it because they are old and he said something about if rotated they could affect my ride and something about being worn. I got these tires from an ad that they will be put in someones yard for whoever comes first. These tires had great tread so I took them in January and got them mounted on. I have drove them 7,000 miles. I don't know if they are snow tires or not. Even if these are a snow tire can't I still safely drive on them in the Summer?

Snow tires will only last a couple thousand miles when driven in the summer before they start showing major wear. The soft compound wears at an incredible rate when used on bare asphalt.

The composition of snow/winter tires is simply not suitable for summer driving. They are not meant to be used in temperatures much above 40 degrees. They will not provide the proper or adequate traction, especially in wet weather driving.

It isn't good to drive with snow tires in the summer. They are much softer than regular tires and I may wear more easily if used all year round. I suggest you save up for all season tires instead and keep them for the winters.

How is anyone supposed to answer such a question? Is it possible for you to know anything less about your tires and their current condition?
Obviously there is a problem if the people who maintain your car will not touch them.
