You can go to the ER for any medical issue, now as for how serious they'll take it and aggressive they will be in finding out, I'm not sure. It really depends on why you feel you could be suffering from throat cancer, they'll want to know if you smoke or dip tobacco, if you do any "recreational" drugs, and if you have any sores or raw patches in your mouth or throat, or any pain. These are all precursors to possible throat cancer so if you don't fit any of those qualifications they will probably treat you by sending you home on some oral antibiotics and refer you to an ENT Dr. But if they take your history and feel your worry is justified, they may keep you to do a tissue scrape of the cells (if any have an abnormal appearance) and will send it to their lab, if you're not dehydrated or underweight and your blood work looks normal they will send you home (again with a referral to the ENT Dr) and call you with the results of the biopsy they did. If you went in and they did blood work on you and several values had them concerned, and/or you were dehydrated, and/or had experienced a lot of weight loss recently, then they will be more aggressive regarding treatment, they may want to hospitalize you until your abnormal values are stabilized and you're rehydrated. And while in the hospital, they will send an ENT Dr to your room to start seeing you there. Good luck.
Source(s): I was hospitalized for dehydration last month, for 5 days, and 4 different Dr's of different specialties came to my room to examine and order tests to be run while I was hospitalized (which was paid for not by the tax payer's, but actually by me and my insurance). - Anonymous6 years ago
Well don't go to the hospital, according to "Tink", even severe dehydration is just a figment of the imagination according to them. Guess Creaturenurse was supposed to stay at home and somehow replace all the electrolytes they lost, don't know how they're supposed to do that if the fluids don't stay down though. Hmmm, well Tink will have the answer, she always thinks she does anyway.

Less than a week ago you had appendicitis and within the last 24 hours you have been worrying about melanoma.
Why would you now be worried about throat cancer? And no, the ER is not appropriate for checking for that.

You can breathe, speak, and waste time on yahoo answers which tells me you aren't having an emergency entailing any of the organs of that region of the body.
Give it a break already.
