No, not every regrets the "abrupt manner of Tink." I appreciate the blunt words because most of the time, other words simply don't work.

As Tark said ... if you've been living with this "fear" for two years, then you do not have an emergency. As Tink said, going to Emergency for something this irrational is a complete waste of time and resources. Emergency care is for just that ... emergencies.

Addressing the anxieties of a hypochondriac is not within the realm of emergency needs. Make the appointment for your ENT so that you can be reassured you don't have throat cancer.

But more than that, make an appointment for a psychological evaluation and get counseling. Fear is ruining your life.

EDIT: I've glanced at your account. You are an extreme hypochondriac. Almost every single one of your 127 questions are an obsession of some kind of health concern. You mention being under a therapist's care at one point.

GO BACK TO THERAPY. Your behavior is NOT normal.

    Hello,

Bless your heart, I'm sure the ER would do their best for you, - but you would definitely need to see an ENT specialist for a laryngoscopy, in my humble opinion.

We don't know what your symptoms have been, - have you had a hoarse voice for two years, or something? I think a laryngeal cancer would have become obvious in that time, and so is correspondingly less likely, in my humble opinion.

I hope this is of some help. I regret the abrupt manner of "Tink," although I agree about the ER.

    Best wishes,

PS. Wow! If you don't feel sympathy for this poor guy, just don't post an answer? I expect he knows that his behaviour is not entirely rational. It must be utterly miserable for him.

I think logic would tell you that if you have had it for two years untreated, you would probably have succumbed by now. Sometimes being a hypochondriac can protect us from the real problems we face. If we are ill nothing is as important and we can get some soothing care. This may not be apparent to you but it can be to others around you. I would like to add that medical tests are not safe. There can be punctures and ruptures needing immediate surgery. There can be reactions to injected dyes or too many X-rays. You are placing yourself in needless danger. Get one good checkup and resist the urge to poke, prod, or stare in the mirror with beads of perspiration on your face looking for signs. You are fine, enjoy it and get on with life.

    ER doesn't generally diagnose cancer.

Wasting the time of those trying to save life and limb of others with hypochondria just shows how badly you need to seek some mental health care.

If you have been having this for 2 years then it is not an emergency and can wait another month.

They are unlikely to let you jump the queue, pushing aside people with obvious disease.
