National PE-357S Manual? (Camera flash)?

I recently got a National (now Panasonic) PE-357S flash from a relative, I was wondering if anyone had a manual for this flash that they could scan and upload.

The only manuals I could find online were for sale and the only information I could find was the firing voltage (12v), and the fact that National is now Panasonic

Also, does anyone know what type of connector, amps/watts, and voltage the external power should be?

Hmmm... The particulars, I don't know. The cable, probably a standard flash PC connector. External power voltage should be printed next to the power port. If you have no idea how to use it, maybe I could guess.

    W1 is wide angle.

N is normal standard, S is short telephoto(?),

T is telephoto. Not sure about numbers below. Maybe maximum distance in feet. I'm guessing you can pull/push the head of the flash in/out to vary angle of coverage.

    Vari-angle flash head - 90°, etc. etc.

To use in Auto mode, set ISO value of your film or dSLR to FULL. Determine the distance (m) you will be working at (from your subject) and see where that range fits - green, orange, yellow. Set aperture size to the lower f/number indicated under that color. Take a test shot. If picture is too dark, you can either step forward or decrease f/number or both. When you begin to get good shots consistently, remember to stick to that distance range so you won't have to readjust again and again.

Manual mode is almost the same but you will have to adjust the aperture size each time you change distance. Follow the nearest aperture size above the distance you are shooting at. You have the option to set a -2EV for a weaker flash and -4EV for a much weaker flash yet. Those two can be handy for quick toning down of the light if it comes too strong. FULL is full power.

This switch stumps me but it's again about the angle of coverage (Telephoto, Short? Telephoto, Normal/standard, Wide, Wider Fisheye?). Set accordingly to the lens you are using.

RL is Ready Light. You can shoot with flash if this is on.

AUTOCHECK should light when doing a test fire without tripping the lens shutter. The red test switch is down there at the foot of the flash.

Oh, there's a mode switch. Slide it to the flash mode you're using, depending on what steps you're following above. As I see it, this is a portrait flash that's meant to be used at full manual mode.

Always use the Lock when mounting on the flash shoe.

There's a website offering a printed manual for that flash unit here, it's not free I'm afraid - they wan't £9.95 [$15.51 USD] for it, and it's a British website, so I would guess there will be international postage to add on if you live somewhere else. https://www.ephotozine.com/equipment/manuals/pe-35...

I couldn't find a PDF to download for your particular model, however I found this one for a PE-387s - perhaps it will be similar enough to get the operation basics? http://www.cameramanuals.org/flashes_meters/nation...

I have this flash as well and I think its still a brand new flash. It was given by my father and I have no use for it. let me know if you want to borrow the manual or i can send some scanned copy of the pages.
