Why is it so hard to become famous in acting?

I know most people say acting is a really competitive business and that you have to have a lot of training and experience and luck to become successful. But I mean there are some actors in show business who can't even act like Keanu Reeves or Adam Sandler and yet they are famous and successful. I think this is really unfair and it's sad that acting is more about making money than having talent.

It's hard because there are more people who want to be famous then there are roles. There are currently 100,000 professional, union actors just in LA. That's not counting Union actors in other parts of the country, non Union actors to wannabe actors.

And it's show BUSINESS so like any other business people are in it to make money. Just because you don't like a particular entertainer doesn't mean others don't, nor does it mean they don't work hard at their job. Why should someone just get what they want because they think they have talent? Why should people cater to "talented" people instead of choosing (with their dollars) what they personally find entertaining?

And unfair? Live is unfair. Why do you get to live in a house and buy groceries instead of living in a refugee camp and getting one cup of rice a day? Why do you get to play on a computer instead of lying in the hospital getting chemotherapy for cancer?

Sorry-but I don't have a great deal of tolerance for whining.

They do well because people watch them. It's subjective. Someone must think they're talented otherwise they wouldn't be there. They may not be my preference but they are clearly someones. For example. I can't stand Mrs Brown's Boys, but my parents love it and that's all that matters; It has an audience.

Talent and skill are part of it. But there is a lot more that stops talented actors getting to the top.

    Money.

    Confidence.

    Purely contacts.

    Comfort.

Just to name a few things.

It's not who you are, but who you know.
