well to really freak you out there are mites living in your eyebrows right now, too. https://www.google.com/search?q=eyebrow+mites&rlz=...

did you know if no animals or humans, no dust will appear in the room? dust is dead skin cells floating down on surfaces. without dust mites to eat them we would be knee deep in dead skin dust. that's why the junk in the vacuum cleaner bag looks and smells greasy.

get robotic vacuums, change your sheets weekly. wash them in HOT water, and it's why i have leather sofas and chairs. vacuum your mattress, no carpet, only hard floors. pet proof. i am horribly allergic to the protein the dust mites make and it's how i deal.

robotic swiffers are the bomb. (edited to add: use black tea in the floor washing water. the tannin destroys the allergen.)

No, you need a microscope to see them.

And you might as well get over your phobia because they, and billions of other microscopic creatures and bacteria and viruses are everywhere, including inside your body and on your skin.

In fact, from 10 to 30 pounds of the weight of your own body is made up of other microorganisms. We could not live without them since they help us digest our food and provide protection on our skin from harmful microbes. There are microscopic mites that live in your eyelashes too. There is no surface anywhere in your environment that is not covered with other life you cannot see. I

f the idea of dust mites bothers you, you can get plastic covers for your mattress and buy a new pillow every month. But it would be more sensible for you to just chill out and accept that they are part of everyone's world, feedling on the dead skin that we leave on the surfaces in our homes.
