Do you ever fantasize about what you would be like if you were your alter ego?
for example, John is a moralistic, honest man that try's to see the best in everyone and try's to do right by everyone, but secretly John prefers and wants to be quite the opposite to what he is, a liar, a cynical , a selfish being without morals so as to not care about the rest of the world or be effected by it.

I have 2 of them, one (George P.) is pretty much me with a different name in case I don't want to give my real name, so it wouldn't be very different, and the other (Brandon B.) is a character in my book based on myself but less shy, and lives in a better city in a different time, which I sometimes think of what it would be like to be him.
