Why are some teenagers obsessed over dead singers and band members?

The reason some people (and no, it's not only teens who still listen to great artists like Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison etc) like listening to them is just because they LIKE THE MUSIC. They are true artists, and when true artists die, their art lives on. And yes, there are a lot of great artists that are still alive, but the thing is that it's not really about the people, and wether they're alive or not, it's pretty much only about the music. Some people just really like their music, so they listen to it. And really, why do you care? Let people obsess over whoever they want.

I don't see what it could possibly matter that they're dead. Is their music any less good because they're no longer here? The only difference is, you can't go to see them live. But several of the living people you mentioned are way past their prime anyway.

Better to worship a dead guy with artistic integrity than the hollow icons of today I suppose.

Well if they were great people and SANG about meaningful stuff then it is a heartbreak but still they should not be like that yeah they are drama queens.

Because teenager girls typically have smaller brains and lower intelligence than their male counterparts. It's been proven.
