How can I advise my friend about periods?
So my friend, a bit older than me, has just started her period. I don't really know how to explain to her that her cycle almost certainly won't be regular, when I asked her to come for a sleepover she said she'd be on her period then, keep in mind, as far as I know she's going by the calendar on her phone. I know, that, if it doesn't follow the calendar, she'll worry. I dunno how to explain this to her? Tips and suggestions, also does anyone have funny, embarrassing or down right gross period stories I can read to her?

Just tell her it's fine if she's in her period because you have a sanitary bin she can use and that because she's just started her period will be all over the place!
Explain that a cycle is how long it takes for your next period to come. So it's usually 28 days for most women, but it goes up to 42 days. Like mine is 38, but during your cycle you ovulate, which means you get different types of discharge etc. also just tell her to always carry pads and tampons on her (and I'd suggest You do too for her to borrow because she seems pretty scared about it all) and lastly tell her to get over it. She's going to have periods for the next 40 years of her life! And if shouldn't stop her from doing anything she usually does. She is a young woman now and needs to be more mature about it:)

Has she asked you to play advisor in this matter? Tell her that you're glad to share what you know about menstruation, but realize that she has probably already researched the matter and may not need you to guide her. Wait 'til she asks.
