Hello folks in Canada When driving down a street which has only one lane going in each direction with parked cars on my side for example?

With a car approaching me from the opposite direction, must I pull in between two parked cars to let him by? I was told that I do not have to do so but only have to pull as far to the right as possible and do not have to pull in between parked cars and stop. And that it's only common courtesy to do so. And that it's up to the other driver to pull as far to their right as well.

Thank you kindly

If there isn't enough room on the street for both cars to pass safely due to parked vehicles... then obviously someone has to pull over. There is no rule for which vehicle should do so. In most cases, it is obvious who should pull over as someone typically has a driveway, parking area, on side has multiple vehicles, etc. where they can pull over.

When in doubt... it is better for you to pull over. If you pull over and stop... then they are liable if they hit you.

I just pull over at the nearest convenient gap. Don't get in the way of whoever is heading your way. Plot your path to ensure smooth traffic flow.
