Canon or Nikon? In cameras?

No. You need to compare the Canon 700D with the Nikon D5200 - these are mid range entry levels

The D3200 is a basic entry level, comparable to the Canon 1200D.

It doesn't make any difference which you buy, since no manufacturer on this planet makes any bad DSLRs.

You are comparing the Canon to the wrong Nikon. It should be the D5200 with articulating screen to compare with the 700D (t5i)

700D is better at video and simulating live view exposure changes, D5200 is better in low light or indoors. Both are excellent cameras and you should pick the one you like best.

But all of this means nothing, if the camera doesn't fit your hands, your style of shooting, and your workflow. You need to handle each camera and see how you and the camera connect.

Pick a price range . Then got to a store that sells cameras . Get a hands on feel on each one . Pentax also makes a decent D-SLR .

I have " entry level " cameras , but I can match the work of guys who shoot with a D610 / D4 .

The 700D outspecs the D3200 because they are not equivalents.

Why only those two, which aren't even in direct competition ?

For DSLRs, Pentax are better on paper, and Sony's SLTs shoot better video.

Look at ALL the alternatives, and work it out for yourself, you'll be the one spending time learning to use it properly.
