He's a player (or thinks he is). He's also into mind games. That's usually a toxic combination. I would advise you *and* your friend to avoid him.

If he loves your friend, but isn't her boyfriend, then i guess he simply loves her. But If he's seeing her, and has given her some idea he's a committed boyfriend, but he's having sex with other people, that makes him a selfish pig.
