Texting Ettiquette?

Update:

My sister-in-law doesn't quite understand why she shouldn't send a group text at 5-ish in the morning. My wife has tried to explain to her that it's common courteousy to wait until a decent hour (say 7-ish) to text. When my wife explains this, my sis-in-law gets heavily offended. How do we explain to her that 1) It's too early, and 2) That it's not considerate?

Any suggestions appreciated!

Don't text and drive, or text and socialize with someone who is in the room, or text in a bank, or in a store, or while waiting in line, or while giving your order, or while ordinarily supposedly caring on a life.

Texting is not your life. If you need to learn the etiquette, you are texting too much.

It's not considerate to text at 7am either, not in my book! And seriously, group texts suck balls no matter what time it is - every time anyone in the group responds, they respond to everyone by default. Maybe not everyone cares or needs to know their every thought!

Do not say anything you would not say face to face.
