Public Camping?
Trying to find the "laws" about camping on public land in Indiana. How long can an individual "crash" on public land before the "law" hauls you off?

If you are camping on federal lands, the general regulation is for a period not greater than 14 days.

Depends on where you are. Many cities have laws against camping on their public property. Trespass laws apply to private property. Some private property owners allow overnight stays for those in RVs such as Walmart and Lowes.
Now camping is allowed on most public lands such as State and National Forests, BLM, Army Corp, and some private reserves such as nature conservancy and at privately held camping parks. For the most part this is in designated area's only and for a fee. Federal lands sometimes allow what is called "dispersed" camping this is where you drive or hike in and pick a spot and camp, Snow birds (folks fleeing the winter cold in RVs) often head to the sun belt states doing just that and they refer to it as "boondocking".
Now to answer you specifically dispersed camping, unless by special permit, is limited to a 15 day stay on federal lands, shorter on state lands and only overnight in much of the rest, also you may have to move up to 25 miles from the previous location. As to where here is where google map is your friend in looking up national forest, blm and state lands near you.

Doubt they'd haul you away unless you're being a real nuisance. Find a National forest or two, they're good for a couple of weeks.
