Pre-ground coffee beans causing fast extraction?

    Faster than whole beans.

    Whole beans have less surface area that is touching the water, the smaller the grounds the more water it is exposed to and the faster (and more efficient) the extraction

    Also many compounds (oils etc) are confined within the bean, they will not be extracted sufficiently until the bean is ground
