It's false. A gram of silver is 1 gram. A gram of anything is a gram.

However, one MOLE (6.02 x 10^23 atoms) of silver have a mass of 108 grams. That's because silver has an atomic mass of 108. The mass of one silver atom is about 108 times the mass of one proton. And a mole of protons has a mass of one gram. That's how a mole is defined.
