Landlord charging me for door repair. My question is why so much? Why not tell me and I could have hired someone else to do the job.?
My landlord is charging me $350 dollars to repair a door frame that was accidentally broken when my wife trip on a towel on the way to the room. He sent someone to take a look at the door and he came over a few days later to repair the door. He changed 2 pieces of molding along with fixing a small hole with plaster that looks horrible. I was there when the repairs were made and he took 45 mins to fix it. My question is why so much? Why not tell me and I could have hired someone else to do the job.

because they can charge whatever they want. What you should have done was go after a contractor yourself and have it repaired, keeping the landlord out of the situation. Land lords typically charge more because 1. They can 2. They focus on renting out apartments, not fixing it. I'm pretty sure a banker will charge more for a car oil change than a mechanic. Get the idea?

If the repair was so simple, why didn't you just hire "someone" to fix it so inexpensively - why involve the landlord at all ?? Landlord can claim there are clerical/administrative/management/bookkeeping expenses in addition to cost of repairs.

Hi as you got him to have it done you have no choice but to pay the man.
