Where to take my wife on vacation where we can reconnect?
My wife and I have been together for 20 years! (married for 17). As you can imagine, we have been through a LOT since 1995! So many high's and low's to list, it would take 10 pages! Best of the best, and worst of the worst. This year has been especially full of high's and low's. Feels like the friggin stock market!
The GOOD news is that business is up, our finances are solid, and we're going to have some disposable income to do some FUN things in the coming months. We've discussed going on a trip, both with our kids and without, but I am not sure of where just me and the wife should go? The wife says Bora Bora, which I'm not opposed to, but that's going to be a $10k trip. We've already been to Hawaii, Cancun, Jamaica, St. Maartin, and we've been on a couple of cruises. Any suggestions on where we can go for 7-10 days? Reconnect? Rekindle? Make it JUST about US?

Seems like you've been to some tropical getaways. I would suggest China. China is far different from what school taught us. It is the oldest civilization to date with history dating back to 5000 years ago. China is a huge country that is very diverse, even within its own country and population. There are over 200 different dialects. You have Inner Mongolia and the desert to the north, hot warm weather to the south, along with Tibet. There is an Islam population to the west, and the east coast has many big cities. Korean population to the northwest. You could also try Hong Kong and Macau, they are Chinese territories. Or maybe Chinese Taipei (Taiwan). For a traveler, Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin would probably be the best. But there are many beautiful places with mountains, peaks, and rivers to explore along with the villages in China. Or you might prefer the big cities mixed with old Chinese buildings. It is great, you would really enjoy it! Plus it's getting cooler now, especially towards the big autumn festival, a big holiday in China.

Anywhere in the world that you're interested in going. I love to cruise because your hotel goes with you, so there's not a lot of packing/unpacking. I've also taken trips to the UK where we rented a car, stayed in a B&B each night, and just drove every day to places and things we wanted to see. Mediterranean cruises are great also (you can see a TON of wonderful cities).
If there's some place you two have wanted to go but haven't been yet, then do it. Europe is great, The Caribbean can be fun (esp on a cruise). I've got other destinations on my bucket list, but everyone is different with regard to what they enjoy seeing/doing.
Have fun!

Go to the Dominican. The Sivory Punta Cana is by far the most luxurious/romantic resort I've ever been to. The suite had a private pool and outdoor shower… not a soul could see you since it's very spread out. Pretty nice for any couple looking to be alone

Places like Prague, Paris, Venice or Barcelona would be good if you want something different. Take advantage of the better exchange rates in the Euro Zone now. However, Bora Bora or the Seychelles are great choices if you want to stick with the types of destinations you know you enjoy.

If the idea is to reconnect, then the destination is not important. Togetherness is important, the rest is just frosting on the cake. Would Paris bring you any closer together than Bermuda?
