I found out today that a decision had been made on my Disability hearing. How long will it take for me to get my letter?

I had my hearing in front of the judge with a lawyer on July 1. I called my lawyer today and they only told me that a decision had been made on August 24 and that it was in the writing process. I checked my mail and my bank account today September 9 and neither had anything about it. So how long does it usually take at this point?

Once the decision has been made it can take up to 60 days before it gets typed.

If denied and they've made the decision you should be getting your denial notice in the mail in 7 to 10 working days from the date it's typed up.

If approved it could take anywhere from 30 to 90 days from the date it gets typed up before you are paid depending upon what type of disability benefit you filed for. And if approved more than likely you will receive payment before the letter explaining the payment. Usually the letter comes 14 days later. Why? Computer versus manual handling.

Putting the cart before the horse. They didn't say you were approved, just that a decision had been made. It would behoove you to have a Plan B in case your aren't approved this time around.

A decision letter may take a few months -- the money will take much longer.
