How to prevent phone buttons getting pressed by themselves?

I own a dumbphone. I switch it off and throw it in my bag(it disturbs me if it rings during my class). But, it gets switched on automatically. How to prevent this from happening?

    put it in a pocket if you have one of you can get a phone bag for example something you can slip your phone in

    Set a passcode so you can't accidentally butt dial.
