In a neutral solution [H+] = [OH-]
(That's pretty much the definition of "neutral".)
So when it's neutral, you can substitute the concentration of one for the other because they are equal:
[H+][H+] =1 x 10^-14
[H+]^2 =1 x 10^-14
Take the square root of both sides:
[H+] =1 x 10^-7
pH = - log 1 x 10^-7 = 7
Then, since they are equal:
[OH-] = 1 x 10^-7
