Potato piercing tool?

Does it exist? I have been putting holes in my baked potato's with a fork, and it is getting old. I rather have some sort of device that can easily put a bunch of holes in them so I can bake them for less time.

use an ice pick!! goes in faster as it has a sharp point! I also have a "potato baking tool" which you stab the potato down on aluminum arms and put into the oven! Holds 4 potatoes!

When doing regular oven baked potatoes, I simply wash, butter or grease the skin, roll in foil and put on baking tray and bake! Until we got microwave we didn't pierce potatoes or anything else! Except for things like my grandmother's potato baking tool!

Why would a special piercing tool be different than a fork? You want more holes poke them more times...that doesn't decrease baking time anyway, its to prevent exploding potatoes.

Have you ever cut them in half to bake them? I do that with really large potatoes.

I am currently working on a device. I have the same issue and also accidentally pierced my thumb instead of the potato. I will send you an update soon

LOL - How many potatoes do you cook at once?!?!? I didn't know that holes reduced cooking time. I thought it allowed steam to escape. Anyway, how lazy can you get. It takes seconds to pierce a spud.

Push a large nail through the potato, some think the nail will conduct heat through the center of the potato.

a fork works best. A tool for that purpose is a waste of money.

Sounds like a new invention you could make. Use two oblong stainless steel bowl shapes, add a hinge, and several spikes on the insides of the bowls. You could call it 'The Spud Iron Maiden'.

There is not a special tool, use a metal skewer or a fork.

The holes keep the potato from bursting open during baking they do not shorten baking time
