When you are testing the pH values of a variety of household cleaners, what would be your Null Hypothesis?

Would it be:

A) The household cleaners will differ in pH.

or

B) The household cleaners will not differ in pH.

    Keyword: " Null Hypothesis," with "null" meaning none/void, which indicates that there is no statistical difference between the two groups. In this case, the null hypothesis is (B) that there is no statistical difference between the pH of the household cleaners. I would do a t - test for comparison of the means. (You could also do a computerized ANOVA test.)

    Note: A is the alternate hypothesis
